Signing a document online replaces the print-sign-scan-email cycle with a few clicks in your browser. Whether you are the person requesting a signature or the person being asked to sign, the process is fast, works on any device, and produces a verifiable record.

This guide walks through both sides: how a recipient signs a document they have been sent, and how a business sends a document out for signature.

If you were sent a document to sign

You do not need an account, an app, or a download. You will receive an email with a secure link that is unique to you.

  • •Open the email and click the secure signing link.
  • •Review the document. You can scroll through every page before signing.
  • •Agree to use electronic records and signatures when prompted (this consent is part of what makes the signature valid under U.S. law).
  • •Click each signature, initial, date, or text field and complete it. You can draw your signature, type it, or upload an image.
  • •Submit. You will be able to download a completed copy for your records.

If you want to send a document for signature

  • •Upload the PDF you need signed.
  • •Drag signature, initial, date, name, and text fields onto the page and assign each to a recipient.
  • •Add your recipients and, if needed, set a signing order so people sign in sequence.
  • •Send. Each recipient gets their own secure, expiring link.
  • •Track progress in real time — you will see when each person views and signs, and get the finalized PDF with a completion certificate when everyone is done.

What makes an online signature trustworthy

A trustworthy e-signature platform records who signed, when, and from where, and protects the finished document against tampering. Tarchos Sign captures a timestamp, IP address, and device for each action, appends a completion certificate, and stores a content hash so any later change to the file can be detected.

Need someone else to sign it?

Signing a document yourself is the easy half. Tarchos Sign sends it to another person, chases the signature, and records what happened. Three documents every month are free, and your recipient signs without creating an account.
