Frequently asked questions
Are signatures legally enforceable?
Electronic signatures are generally recognized under the U.S. ESIGN Act and UETA, and Tarchos Sign captures the elements that support enforceability — intent to sign, consent to sign electronically, attribution (name, email, IP, timestamp, device), and a tamper-evident, retained record. Enforceability ultimately depends on the transaction, consent, applicable law, and how the document is configured and executed. This isn’t legal advice, and some document types (e.g. wills, certain notices) may be excluded — consult counsel for those.
Do recipients need an account?
No. Recipients sign through a secure, expiring link — no account, app, or download required, on any device.
Can I upload my own PDFs?
Yes. Upload any PDF, drag on signature, initial, date, name, and text fields, assign them to recipients, and send.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel anytime from your billing page — no lock-in. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
Can I use Tarchos Sign outside the United States?
Yes — it runs in any modern browser and signers need no account. Three things to know before you rely on it: the app, its emails and support are in English; subscriptions are charged in U.S. dollars through Stripe, which accepts international cards; and service data is processed and stored in the United States. Electronic signature requirements differ by country and document type, so check what applies to your documents. Tarchos Sign provides simple electronic signatures — not certificate-based, advanced or qualified signatures.
How do document packets count toward my plan?
Packets are included on Starter and above. Each document in a packet counts toward your monthly document allowance, so a three-document intake packet uses three. The Free plan includes one reusable template but not packets.
What happens when I hit my monthly limit?
You’ll be prompted to upgrade to a plan with a higher limit. Your existing documents and signing links keep working — only new sends are paused until you upgrade or your monthly cycle resets.
Is my data encrypted?
Your documents are encrypted at rest — the storage layer envelope-encrypts each file (AES-256-GCM) before it is written — and they are delivered over encrypted connections. Files are private, never public, and every access is recorded in the audit trail. See our Security page for what each layer covers.
